Thomas McCorry

Chief Financial Officer - Consumer Packaged Goods

With over 20 years of leadership in financial strategy and operational excellence, Thomas McCorry has played a vital role in transforming Constellation Brands into one of the most successful global companies in the beer, wine, and spirits industry. His approach to driving financial results, optimizing business operations, and fostering a collaborative culture has been integral to the company’s growth and sustained success.

Steering Complex Financial Operations at Constellation Brands

McCorry’s career at Constellation Brands began in 2004 when he joined the company as a Director of Global Accounting. McCorry’s early focus on optimizing financial reporting and accounting systems led to his rapid rise within the organization. As Vice President of Global Accounting, McCorry oversaw the global consolidation process for the $3.6 billion company, reducing the financial close process by eight days and improving the accuracy of financial reporting.

One of McCorry’s standout contributions was leading the development of global accounting policies and procedures, which standardized financial processes across Constellation’s international operations. His leadership in adopting new economic systems, including a global ERP system, was pivotal in increasing efficiency, reducing errors, and enhancing compliance with US GAAP.

In addition to streamlining accounting functions, McCorry spearheaded initiatives to enhance financial visibility. His work developing global cash flow reporting processes reduced preparation time by 10 days, ensuring timely and accurate financial data across multiple currencies. McCorry’s ability to lead complex financial projects with a focus on accuracy and efficiency laid the foundation for his future successes at Constellation.

Redefining Financial Strategy in the Wine & Spirits Division

In 2012, McCorry transitioned to Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) for Constellation’s Wine & Spirits division. In this capacity, McCorry was responsible for shaping the financial strategy of the $2.7 billion profit segment. His leadership in strategic financial planning helped align business goals with operational priorities, ultimately driving revenue growth and market share expansion.

McCorry’s work centralizing non-price investments, which amounted to $150 million, and implementing a zero-based budgeting process created a more efficient financial planning environment. His innovative approach to budgeting provided greater visibility into operational costs and enabled the organization to prioritize investments more effectively.

In addition, McCorry introduced a new cloud-based forecasting solution that integrated regional sales data, S&OP information, and historical trends. This system improved forecast accuracy and allowed Constellation’s commercial teams to make more informed decisions about market opportunities and resource allocation.

Shaping the Future of Constellation’s Beer Division as CFO

As Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Beer Division, McCorry had a significant role in overseeing Constellation’s $8 billion revenue business, which includes iconic brands such as Corona and Modelo. McCorry’s financial expertise was crucial in optimizing capital investments and driving operational efficiency, with a particular focus on reducing costs and enhancing margins.

One of Thomas McCorry’s most impactful achievements in this role was reducing planned capital expenditures by $1.5 billion over three years by aligning commercial demand, supply chain, and engineering operations. This reduction in capital investment improved operational efficiency and allowed the Beer Division to redirect funds toward higher-growth areas, such as direct-to-consumer markets and international expansion.

In addition to managing capital expenditures, McCorry implemented a multi-year cost efficiency strategy across the division’s $3 billion operations footprint. His efforts to mitigate cost inflation and drive margin improvements helped the Beer Division maintain strong profitability despite challenges in the broader market. McCorry’s ability to deliver strong financial results in such a competitive industry further solidified his reputation as a leader in economic strategy.

Cultivating a Culture of Collaboration and Innovation

McCorry’s leadership extends beyond financial results—he is also deeply committed to fostering a collaborative and innovative culture within Constellation. During his tenure at the Beer Division, McCorry introduced the company’s first expatriate program, which focused on increasing employee engagement and reducing turnover. The initiative helped improve employee satisfaction scores by 8 points, reduced recruiting costs, and contributed to a more robust overall organizational culture.

As a critical driver of cross-functional collaboration, McCorry also worked to redefine Constellation’s global business planning process. His efforts to align financial strategy with operational priorities helped the company make more informed decisions about investments and strategic initiatives, positioning Constellation for continued growth and success in an increasingly competitive market.

Commitment to Giving Back: A Passion for Philanthropy

In addition to his professional achievements, McCorry has remained dedicated to giving back to the community. He serves on the Board of Directors at Villa of Hope, a Rochester-based nonprofit organization that provides behavioral health and addiction services to adults and families. McCorry’s philanthropic work also extends to his role on the Finance Committee at the Catholic Family Center, an organization focused on helping individuals and families in need.

Through the McCorry Impact Scholarship, McCorry has made a lasting contribution to his alma mater, SUNY Geneseo. This needs-based scholarship supports students from underprivileged backgrounds, allowing them to pursue higher education. McCorry’s commitment to social causes is also reflected in his volunteer work at House of Mercy, a homeless shelter in Rochester, where he helps prepare and serve meals to those in need.

An Educational Foundation Rooted in Excellence

McCorry’s career success is rooted in a solid academic background. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from SUNY Geneseo in 1997 and became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 2001. In 2012, McCorry enhanced his leadership skills by completing an Executive Development Program at Dartmouth College, further honing his strategic thinking and financial acumen.
